Wow! The Honey Bees at Windy Drumlins have had a very busy summer. Our hives are bursting with honey and bees. When a bee colony is ready to reproduce, the queen will leave the hive with the youngest bees with the goal of starting a new colony. The older worker bees left behind will then “hatch” a new queen and carry on! These pictures are from the swarm we captured out of our apple trees.
What is NEW?
Windy Drumlins promotes a “new” way of thinking about food! As part of our “Salad a Day“ Initiative, we have included a Field Guide to the Salad Bar that includes the major nutrient players in each lettuce along with why you need to consume that particular leafy green! Gear up for FEELING GREAT! Email email@example.com for a copy of the cards!
We are also avid supporters of the local Blue Zone Project! To learn more about how you can help, check out their facebook page! Congratulations to NOLA’s restaurant for becoming the first Blue Zone certified restaurant in the Dodge County area.
Not sure what Blue Zones Project means? Check out this website.
We continue to share the message of sustainability and the nutrient dense leafy greens that we all need! You can check us out at the Horicon Farmer’s Market on Wednesday nights. Be sure to come early as we might run out of product! You can also find our product either for sale or to eat at Leroy Meats in Horicon, Back to the Best in Rubicon, Good Harvest Market in Pewaukee, Berres Brothers in Watertown. If you would like to purchase directly from our farm, send us a message on Facebook or call us at (920) 427-6343 and we will make sure that we are open for you!
